Assistant Director, UGA Innovation Gateway: Plant Genetics Panelist
Brent Marable has been with the University of Georgia Innovation Gateway (formerly the Technology Commercialization Office) since August 2010, and currently serves as the Assistant Director. He manages a diverse agricultural science intellectual property portfolio including mainly horticulture and crop and soil sciences, to include peanuts, small grains, fruits, ornamentals, grasses, and others. He is specifically responsible for identifying, obtaining, and managing appropriate intellectual property protection (patents, trademarks, etc.), maximizing the commercial potential of plant cultivars by developing commercialization plans, negotiating and executing license agreements, advising on compliance of license agreements, and overseeing revenue distribution. Mr. Marable is a graduate of the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences with a Bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture and a Master’s of Agricultural Leadership.
